Squamo is an early-access product for reptile keepers. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect through this website and the Squamo mobile app, why, and how to have it deleted. We keep data collection to the minimum we need — we don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
Who we are
Squamo is published and operated by Okobe Tech, a French single-member limited liability company (société à responsabilité limitée à associé unique) with a share capital of €500, represented by its manager Marcelin Bedy, and the data controller for the personal data described here.

What we collect
- Your email — if you join the waitlist, or if you secure your app account so it can be restored on another device. Securing an account is optional: the app works from a device-local anonymous account until you choose to add an email.
- Your reptiles and their care records — names, species, morph, dates, photos you upload, and the entries you log (feeding, weight, sheds, enclosure temperature and humidity, health notes). These describe your animal, not you, and they are stored privately against your account.
- Usage analytics— a small set of product events (which screens and features get used) so we can tell what's useful. These are associated with your account identifier, so they are not anonymous. We do not record your screen or session.
- Error diagnostics — if something breaks, we log the technical error, also associated with your account identifier, so we can reproduce and fix it.
- Approximate location (mobile app, optional)— if you turn on local weather alerts, the app rounds your coordinates to roughly a kilometre and sends them to a weather service to fetch the forecast for your area. Your exact position never leaves the device. It's off by default, you can decline, and we don't store your location.
- Ask Squamo questions (mobile app)— when you use the Ask Squamo feature, your question is sent to Google's Gemini API to generate a grounded answer, along with the species and name of the reptile you asked about. We do not send your identity, and we do not store the questions.
- Scan photos (mobile app)— a photo you scan is sent to Google's Gemini API to identify the species and morph. We do not attach your identity to it and we do not store it.
Why we collect it
Your email lets us tell you when Squamo launches. Analytics and error logs help us understand what's useful and fix problems. That's it.
Who processes it
We use a small set of trusted providers to run the service:
- Supabase — stores the waitlist, your account, your reptiles and care records, and the photos you upload.
- Slack — receives an internal notification, which includes your email address, when someone joins the waitlist or secures an account.
- RevenueCat — manages Squamo Pro subscriptions. It receives your account identifier and your purchase history, not your payment details, which stay with Apple or Google.
- Vercel — hosts this website.
- PostHog — product analytics, associated with your account identifier (session recording is turned off).
- Sentry — error diagnostics.
- Resend— sends the email we'd send you at launch.
- Open-Meteo — turns your coordinates into a local forecast for weather alerts, only when you enable them in the app.
- Google (Gemini API) — powers reptile scan identification and Ask Squamo answers. It receives the photo or question you submit, not your identity.
How long we keep it
We keep your waitlist email until launch or until you ask us to remove it, whichever comes first. Your account, reptiles, care records and photos are kept until you delete your account, which you can do from the app's settings — it erases them permanently. Analytics and error data are retained according to each provider's standard retention.
Your rights
You can ask us to see or delete the data we hold about you at any time — just email support@squamo.app and we'll take care of it. When the mobile app ships, deleting your account there removes your account and all associated data.
